DEADLINE FOR 2008 BUSINESS AWARDS APPROACHES
The deadline for nominations for the Haringey Business Award 2008 is Friday, 9th May. Businesses and individuals are urged to put in their nominations before this date.
The award will recognise businesses that have excelled in terms of innovation, enterprise and success over the last 12 Months. The Award ceremony will be held at the Decorium, Wood Green on the 29th of may.

CANDIDATE LISTS FOR MAY 1 ELECTIONS RELEASED
Candidates' lists have been published for the London elections on May 1.
The election is for the Mayor of London and for the 25 members of the London Assembly.
Electors have two votes in the ballot for Mayor and two votes for Assembly members. For the Assembly, there is one ballot for the 14 members representing particular constituencies, and one for 11 London-wide members elected by party, representing the capital as a whole.

FREE PASS FOR HARINGEY RESIDENTS
Residents can receive a free week-long pass to use facilities at Haringey Council's leisure centres by attending a special launch event on Monday 7 April.

CHANGES IN IMMIGRATION POLICY

The Home office recently announced a change in the way applications will be considered from those seeking to work in the United Kingdom.
The new Points-based assessment system which came into force on 29th February 2008 seeks to ensure that only qualified immigrants enter the UK to take up jobs.
